The car that made electric mobility accessible to thousands of Indian families is getting a makeover. Tata Motors has been spotted testing a refreshed version of the Tiago.ev, and from what we can see in the latest spy shots, the budget-friendly EV is about to get a whole lot more premium.
With rising competition from the MG Comet and Citroen eC3, Tata is ensuring its best-selling electric hatchback stays at the top of your wishlist. Here’s what you can expect from the 2026 update.

1. Sharper, Modern Aesthetics
While the classic Tiago silhouette remains, the “face” of the car is moving closer to Tata’s new-age design philosophy (think Punch.ev and Nexon.ev).
- The Eyes: Look out for redesigned, more angular headlamps that give the car a more aggressive, “grown-up” look.
- The Body: Both the front and rear bumpers are getting a redesign to improve aerodynamics and style.
- The Tail: The test mules suggest a completely new design for the taillamps—likely with more modern LED signatures.
- Fresh Paint: Along with new alloy wheel designs, Tata is expected to drop some “funky” new color options to keep the city car looking fresh on the streets.

2. A Major Interior Upgrade
This is where the most exciting changes are happening. If you felt the current Tiago.ev interior was a bit too simple, the facelift is answering your prayers.
What’s New Inside:
- The Screen: A larger, crisper infotainment system is coming, likely borrowed from the new Punch.
- The Cockpit: Say goodbye to the old cluster. The facelift is expected to feature a 7-inch full-digital TFT display with auto-dimming.
- Steering & Console: You’ll get the sleek new two-spoke steering wheel with the illuminated Tata logo. There’s also talk of a redesigned center console that finally includes an integrated armrest and—most importantly—rear AC vents!
- Tech Add-ons: We might see a 360-degree camera, wireless charging, and upgraded upholstery that makes the cabin feel less like a “budget car” and more like a “tech hub.”

3. Reliable Performance Remains
Under the hood (or floor), Tata is sticking with what works. Why fix what isn’t broken?
- Battery Options: It will likely continue with the 19.2 kWh (250 km range) and the 24 kWh (315 km range) options.
- Power: You’ll still get that instant electric torque (110–114 Nm) that makes the Tiago.ev a hoot to drive in city traffic.
- Charging: DC fast charging will still get you from 10% to 80% in just under an hour.
4. When Can You Buy It?
Tata hasn’t officially announced a date, but seeing how production-ready the test mules look, an unveiling could happen in the next 2-3 months. We expect deliveries to begin by mid-2026.
The CarBhumi Take: The Tiago.ev has always been the “sensible” choice for first-time EV buyers. By adding premium features like rear AC vents, a better screen, and a 360-degree camera, Tata is closing the gap between “budget” and “luxury.” If you were about to book a Tiago.ev today, you might want to wait just a little longer for this facelift!
