Volkswagen India has officially revised the prices for its popular India 2.0 models—the Taigun mid-size SUV and the Virtus sedan. In a strategic move to boost entry-level sales, the German carmaker has significantly reduced the starting price for both models, while adjusting the rest of the lineup with a slight premium.
Volkswagen Taigun: New Starting Price
The biggest highlight of this revision is the Taigun Comfortline (Base) variant. Volkswagen has reduced its price by approximately Rs 84,000.
-
Old Price: ~Rs 11.42 Lakh
-
New Price: Rs 10.58 Lakh (Ex-showroom)
While the base model gets a price cut, all other variants of the Taigun have witnessed a uniform price hike of roughly Rs 4,000. The Taigun range now tops out at Rs 19.19 lakh. It continues to compete in a crowded segment against the Hyundai Creta, Maruti Suzuki Grand Vitara, and the upcoming Tata Sierra.
Volkswagen Virtus: Prices Revised
The Virtus sedan follows a similar trend. The entry-level Virtus Comfortline has seen a price drop of Rs 66,000, bringing its new starting price to Rs 10.50 lakh.
However, the rest of the Virtus family sees more substantial increases compared to the Taigun:
-
Highline AT & GT Line MT: Increased by Rs 51,000.
-
Highline Plus (MT/AT): Increased by Rs 45,000 – Rs 46,000.
-
1.5L Turbo variants: Prices up by Rs 10,000 (Manual) to Rs 30,000 (DSG).
The Virtus remains priced between Rs 10.50 lakh and Rs 19 lakh (ex-showroom), maintaining its rivalry with the Skoda Slavia and Honda City.
No Change for Premium Models
Volkswagen has confirmed that the prices for its premium offerings, the Tiguan and the limited-run Golf GTI, remain unchanged. Interestingly, the first batch of the performance-spec Golf GTI is already reported to be sold out in the Indian market.
Additional Dealer Benefits
Despite the price revision, several Volkswagen dealerships are still offering benefits on MY25 (Model Year 2025) stock. These include:
-
Exchange Bonuses
-
Corporate Discounts
-
Scrappage Incentives
-
Cash Discounts (subject to availability)
